February 2, 2012, Punxsutawney Phil did see his shadow in Pennsylvania... which means an six more weeks of winter!!!
Use a perfect square of paper to make the Groundhog's body. It's best to use either construction paper or coverstock to make the Groundhog sturdy enough to stand up and hold something. Follow the folding and cutting directions above. Once you've made his body use colored construction paper to cut out the sign. or better yet draw your own with construction paper and markers. You can also design and draw the grounhog's head using KidPix or the Paint Program on your computer. Now glue or tape the sign to a popsicle stick and decorate the groundhog's hole so he is ready for February 2. Fill his pouch with anything and everything.
