Design Hints

Focus on Content First and Foremost!
Limit the use of fonts on a web page to: Arial, Comic Sans, Courier New, Impact, Times New Roman, and Verdana. Text copy should be written in a clear and concise manner.
Web pages within your site should have a consistent look... backgrounds, fonts, and theme.
All Tangipahoa Parish School web pages should have a hit counter on the school's homepage.
Usually, web page tables should be built at 100% instead of a certain number of pixels.
It is suggested that there be no automated music or sounds on school web pages.
School home pages should have the School Name, Street Address, City, State, Zip code, Telephone Number, Fax Number.
E-mail link to the webmaster should also be on homepage.
You might want to put a date and time stamp that shows when your page was last updated.
The bottom shared border is a good place to put a "Home" button and "e-mail link."
Tangipahoa Parish School System's policy states that the photo release form should be signed by all students who have pictures on your web pages.
As you build your web page make sure you preview in both Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator.
Use only gif and jpeg file formats on your web pages. NO BITMAPS!
When scanning items for your web page save line art, cartoons, and clipart with solid colors in the gif format.
Photographs and artwork with more than 256 colors should be saved in the jpeg format.
Be very aware of the download time for your web pages. Viewers won't wait forever for your page to download.
Before you post to the Internet, make sure you spell check and edit, edit, edit.
